Flow Cytometry Technologist

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Immunology is seeking a qualified Flow Cytometry Technologist.

The mission of the Department of Immunology is to discover new mechanisms and pathways of the immune system to enrich human health by combating and preventing disease, enhancing vaccination, and controlling autoimmunity. The department has a mission of training students, postdoctoral fellows, physicians and other young scientists to be proficient in immunology.

The incumbent will function as a Flow Cytometry Technologist I in a Unified Flow Cytometry Core Facility which is equipped with 3 BD LSRFortessa, 2 BD LSR II, 3 BD FACSAria sorters, 1 ImageStream imaging cytometer and 1 Cytek Aurora.

This individual will be responsible for maintaining and operating laboratory instrumentation. The duties include:

  • Performing daily QC and monthly instrument maintenance
  • Maintaining laboratory records
  • Keeping an inventory of supplies
  • Ordering supplies
  • Running samples and collecting data for investigators from flow cytometers

This individual will report to by the Manager and/or Operational Director of Unified Core Facility.

A Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field is required and laboratory experience or flow cytometry experience is a plus.

Education can be substituted for Years of Experience and Vice-Versa.

The applicant should be highly motivated, detail-oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks. Sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must.
