BD Biosciences is seeking a flow cytometrist or medical technologist who can bring experience of clinical flow cytometry workflows to assist in product development for cell analyzers and preppers. A PhD is desired but not required. No experience with validation testing needed.

Play a critical role by representing the customer experience on cross-functional development teams. Interface with customers to gather critical data that will guide validation testing of products. Assist with usability testing to ensure our products are easy to use and meet user needs. This role will be working on a leukemia and lymphoma reagent assay project and a clinical diagnostic analyzer project.

Primary duties include:

  • Lead the definition, design, and execution of validation activities throughout product development

  • Represent the department on collaborative projects by elevating customers need and product quality

  • Exercise independent judgment and apply solution thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting

  • Conduct representative sample prep and flow cytometry experiments to test products

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer workflows, scientific advancements in flow cytometry, and the competitive landscape

  • Interface between customers and developers/testers by translating customer needs into product requirements and testing workflows

  • Conduct usability testing with users to evaluate areas for product improvement

  • Mentor and support more junior members in understanding user workflows and validation

  • Escalate top issues by providing clear, well-structured, high-level updates

  • Willing to travel up to 10%

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related discipline

  • 5 years experience in clinical diagnostics, clinical research, cancer biology or other relevant industry

  • Extensive hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting flow cytometers

  • Experience with sample prep and experiment design for multi-parameter flow cytometry applications

  • Experience training bench-level personnel and leading projects

  • Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills

Desired Qualifications: 

  • MS or PhD degree in Immunology, Cell Biology or in a related discipline

  • Strong knowledge of leukemia, lymphoma, and/or cancer biology

  • Experience as a Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist is highly desired

  • Experience in human factors or usability engineering principles or studies

  • Experience in FDA submissions

  • Familiar with CAP, CLIA, and/or CLSI
