Dr. Wilson is a Canadian tumor immunologist and cancer researcher currently finishing his fellowship with Dr. Carl June at Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania, working on CAR-T cell therapies for solid tumors including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and prostate cancer.

What inspired you to apply to the LDP or what are you looking forward to with the LDP?
I met several committee members and various other LDP members at conferences and events over the last three years. Getting to know the program, the people, and the needs of the community I realized there was space for me to give back, especially around the reproducible analysis and computational algorithms of high dimensional data. While at the same time there was much I could learn from LDP on building community and leadership in the field that I felt it would be a mutually synergistic thing to be apart of.

How did you get into Cytometry?
I did my first flow cytometry experiment almost 20 years ago at the University of Windsor. We weren’t a rich school and were probably late to the flow game. It was a 2 color machine. I didn’t fully understand the significance of this new machine on campus at first. But the excitement and enthusiasm from the biology professors in the building made me feel like this was going to be bigger than PCR.  Two decades later it is a staple in our clinical trial monitoring and immune cell phenotyping.

Scientific Interest and Avenues for Collaboration: Tumor Immunology, Computational Biology, Cancer Clinical Trials, Cellular Therapies, CAR-T

Participation / Support of ISAC: Previous presentations and leading workshops at CYTO 2023 & 2024, looking forward to joining some committees this year.
