Shared Resource Laboratories (SRLs)
SRLs serve as a foundation for our members across universities, research centers, and corporations. These labs maintain some of the most sophisticated technologies in cell biology.
The term “Shared Resource Lab” (SRL) replaces “Core Lab” to define shared instrumentation labs as a scientific partnership with institutional researchers.
ISAC provides programs and services aimed at SRL managers and staff, including educational offerings at CYTO and CYTO U. We offer SRL Emerging Leaders Programs, junior staff travel awards, and reduced CYTO fees.
Here are some ISAC resources, programs, and events valuable for SRL professionals:
ISAC SRL Best Practices
In 2016, ISAC published SRL Best Practices to establish standards for SRLs. These guidelines help SRLs create SOPs, ensure biosafety, manage data, and maintain quality standards.
ISAC SRL Recognition Program
ISAC is committed to advancing standards in cytometry to improve the reproducibility, rigor, and reliability of cytometric data.
Guided by the 2016 Best Practices for Flow Cytometry SRLs published in Cytometry Part A, the SRL Recognition Program honors laboratories that demonstrate excellence in operations, quality practices, training, and data management. Learn how your lab can apply for recognition.

ISAC SRL Newsletter
The ISAC Shared Resource Lab (SRL) Committee is excited to bring you the ISAC SRL Newsletter! We hope that it can become a source for cytometry-related SRL information and help bring the SRL community a little closer together. The newsletter will come out quarterly, highlighting upcoming events and other SRL-related content.
ISAC SRL SOP Repository
The SRL SOP Repository is a community resource for sharing SOPs related to SRL operations, management, safety, training, and quality control. Submissions are reviewed by the SRL Services Committee before upload but are provided as examples only and are not officially ISAC approved. The repository is hosted on the Internet Archive, where users can browse, comment on, and favorite SOPs.
Continuous Learning
Utilize additional ISAC resources to continue your learning goals.
