Izumi applied to the Leadership Development Program to actively engage in educating users about existing technologies through the development of industry–academic partnerships and to help accelerate technology translation grounded in real user needs. By sharing experiences and learning from others in the program, Izumi aims to contribute to a more robust and effective innovation pipeline within the cytometry community.
Izumi’s path into cytometry began with an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, followed by a graduate focus in biophotonics. During graduate studies, Izumi worked on the fabrication and evaluation of cell scaffolds, which sparked a deeper interest in cellular analysis. After completing the degree, Izumi joined Sony and transitioned into the development of flow cytometers, a field that continues to inspire and challenge them.
