Being a part of the SRL Emerging Leaders program was the beginning of a journey. It opened my eyes and introduced me to this knowledgeable, welcoming, and inclusive community that is ISAC. I would like the opportunity to serve on ISAC Council as I see this as the continuation of that journey. I would like to see this society continue to grow and flourish, to foster new generations of cytometrists. I think my experiences as the President and now the VP of the Canadian Cytometry & Microscopy Association would be helpful and provide perspective in the role of Councilor. I would also like to represent and be a voice for a generation of platform scientists; we who are asked to play many roles – researcher, service provider, meeting organizer, lab manager, and educator.
ISAC EXPERIENCES & CONTRIBUTIONS
Shared Resource Lab Emerging Leader (2018 – 2023)
This leadership and development program was a great introduction to the ISAC community and provided the opportunity for me to interact and learn from various levels of the membership.
Shared Resource Lab Recognition Program Task Force (2021-2022)
I joined this task force when much of the hard work in developing the evaluation rubric was already complete. I was among the group of reviewers to evaluate the first applicants for this program. This was a valuable learning opportunity for me to improve my own core and I look forward to seeing this program evolve.
Data Committee Member (2021-present)
This was the first ISAC committee that I joined. I joined it because the concepts of data standardization, instrument calibration, reference materials and data sharing through repositories are areas of interest for me. Lots of exciting things in the works with this committee with the new flow repository and the potential of a new version of fcs.
Meetings Committee Member (2022 – present)
I joined this committee because I really enjoy the CYTO conferences and I would love to see this conference continue to grow, evolve & expand. It’s been great to be a part of the discussions for CYTO in Asia.
